Dropbox to serve global community (outside of us) via Dublin datacentre

Online storage and productivity player Dropbox has updated its terms of service to inform its 200m users worldwide that all users outside of North America will be served via Ireland from 1 June. Dropbox provides the services from its Dublin Data Centre.

Dropbox established an operations centre in Dublin three years ago and now employs 100 people in the city.

“If you’re a user living outside of North America (US, Canada, Mexico), we’re updating our terms of service to better serve you and the growing number of Dropbox users around the world,” the company said in an email to users this week.

“These changes include the fact that we’ll be providing our services (including Dropbox, Dropbox for Business, Carousel, and Mailbox) to you via Dropbox Ireland starting on 1 June, 2015. Please note that none of our services or features are changing as a result of this.”

The company has so far raised more than US$1.1bn in six venture capital rounds involving 25 investors.
